I need a solution
I have having problems where I print to a remote printer from a host. The print job does not get deleted from the queue on the host after the job has finished printing at the remote printer.
The remote computer is running Windows XP Professional with all the latest service packs installed. The printer is an HP LaserJet M1212nf multifunction printer. It is connected to the remote computer through a USB cable.
I connect to various hosts. One of the hosts is running Windows 7. The other host is running Windows XP Professional. When I print a document residing on the host directly to the remote printer, on neither of the hosts that I mention does the print job delete from the print queue. It stays there, and I cannot delete it by opening print job by way of the icon in the system tray. It does not continually print; but it prints again each time I reboot the host computer.
I have had this printer for approximately 6 months. Before that, I had an HP LaserJet 3050 connected to the remote computer. Nothing else changed when I switched printers; the host computers were the same; and were using the same operating systems. The remote computer had the same operating system. However, with the installation of the M1212nf printer, from the very beginning the jobs did not delete from the queue.
The work-around has been to open the control panel and manually find and delete the print spool file. However, that is not the way it should work.
